The Lighthouse Keeper

Suppliers sail in looking shipshape. Below the waterline, they are not.

The story

A silent-film comedy. Every day new suppliers sail into the bay under cheerful bunting, and through the telescope they all look shipshape. Then the keeper pulls the Senserity lever, the film bursts into colour and the beam shows what is really there.

What it shows in Senserity

  • Every supplier graded A to E, so the risky ones stand out at a glance
  • Financial warning signs such as declining cash flow, negative net assets and registered charges
  • Disqualified directors, HSE enforcement and a history of previous liquidations

    “They all looked shipshape.”

A glossy “AWARD WINNING!” brochure flutters onto the balcony. The keeper ticks his clipboard until a gull steals it, and he carries on ticking thin air. A lever marked SENSERITY hangs on the wall.

Below the waterline: Sunny Supplies has a solid hull. Totally Solvent is full of holes with its crew bailing. Brilliant Widgets is held together with tape, and its painted name peels back through older companies, (2021) Ltd, then (2019) Ltd.

    “Beneath the waterline, however.”

  6. 0:30

Night. The keeper pulls the SENSERITY lever, the lamp blazes brand blue and the film changes from sepia to full colour.

  7. 0:34

The beam sweeps the bay, grading each ship. Sunny Supplies: A. Totally Solvent: D, with declining cash flow, negative net assets and multiple charges registered. Brilliant Widgets: E, with a disqualified director, an HSE enforcement notice and four previous liquidations.

“34 sources. 780+ checks. One grade.”

  8. 0:42

Brilliant Widgets tilts and sinks with a splash. Its crew row away in a lifeboat named Brilliant Widgets (2024) Ltd.

“Some suppliers are best seen in a good light.”

  9. 0:48

Sunrise. Sunny Supplies docks, the keeper finally pours his tea, and the gull returns the clipboard covered in footprints.

  10. 0:54

End card: the Senserity logo, senserity.co.uk and a Start a free trial button. The gull shuffles on a mooring post and shakes its head.
