What this test checks

Reports the lowest grade held by any of the company's registered care sites, and names the site. Each regulator grades on its own scale: the Care Quality Commission in England from Outstanding to Inadequate, Care Inspectorate Wales from Excellent down, and the Care Inspectorate in Scotland on a six-point scale from Excellent to Unsatisfactory.

It deliberately shows the worst case rather than an average, because one failing service matters to the people using it however good the others are. The grade is always given in the regulator's own words.

What a fail looks like

At least one site holds the regulator's lowest or second-lowest grade.

Harmless explanations

  • A low rating can be old, with a re-inspection due or under way.
  • In a large provider, one poor site can sit alongside many good ones.

What to do

  • Read the inspection report for the site concerned and check when it was inspected.
  • If you are commissioning care from a particular site, check that site's own rating.

Part of the test catalogue. Every check Senserity runs, with its severity and the plan it is available on.
