What this test checks
Compares the care regulators' registers with Companies House, and flags a company that still holds an active care registration after Companies House has recorded it as dissolved, or has published a proposal to strike it off.
It is a contradiction between two public registers rather than a direct finding of trouble: one says the legal entity has gone or is going, the other that it is responsible for delivering regulated care.
What a fail looks like
A care registration is still active for a company that is dissolved or proposed for strike-off. It is unclear which legal entity is providing the care.
Harmless explanations
- The care business may have moved to a new company that is registering, or has registered, separately.
- The regulator's register may simply not have caught up.
What to do
- Confirm which legal entity is providing the care and holds the registration.
- Make sure your contract is with that entity.
